As a consumer, I love a good deal. Finding something I want on sale always makes me feel like I won the lottery. However, I also know that price is not the only element that makes something a deal. There are other things to consider, such as the quality of the product, whether it will last a long time, and does it give me good bang for my buck? One of the many reasons that breast augmentation is a specialty of my practice and a favorite procedure of mine to perform is that it delivers on all three of these points. Understanding breast augmentation cost is critical because if you’ve spent any time conducting your initial research online, you will notice that the expense of a breast procedure varies. Here are some factors to consider when deciding whether you want to spend the money on breast augmentation and if the procedure is right for you.
The skill of a Breast Augmentation Surgeon May Affect Cost
As one of the most popular aesthetic procedures in the world, there are probably a number of plastic surgeons performing breast augmentation near you. Some may cost more than others. How do you know if the more expensive doctor is worth it? I think it’s smart to choose a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon that works in an accredited facility with board-certified anesthesiologists. I can tell you first-hand that attaining board certification is hard. It takes considerable time and ongoing study as it’s something that must be maintained. This is why it is one of the simplest ways to ensure that you are picking an ethical and safe surgeon who is up to date on the latest techniques and innovations and who has the skill, experience, and artistic eye to deliver an exemplary result. This experience also means that he or she may be more expensive. The quality of the outcome, however, is usually worth the price.
Amortize Breast Augmentation Cost Over Time
The second component of a good deal is that you want something long-lasting. With fashion, I tend to go for classic pieces because it’s a style that never gets old. And when you buy the highest quality that you can afford, it typically means that the fabrics are going to tolerate more wear and tear. With breast augmentation, the same concept applies. I make it a cornerstone of my practice to deliver natural-looking results that are going to stand the test of time. One of the ways to achieve this is to choose a range of implants that fit within the confines of your anatomy.
Patients don’t always understand that any breast implant must be placed directly behind your nipple, and the width has to fit within your chest cavity. If you place an implant that is too big, your skin and tissues may stretch past their ability to hold the implant in its proper place over time, and you will face revision breast surgery. Choosing an expert surgeon who can deliver the right result means that you can amortize the cost of your breast augmentation over the many years you will enjoy your implants.
Transforms Your Entire Torso
The last point to consider is whether or not your chosen aesthetic procedure delivers good bang for the buck. The thing I love about breast augmentation is that it is a fairly straightforward surgical procedure, yet it can transform your entire torso. Adding an appropriate amount of volume to your breasts will create and/or restore proper proportion. And when your body contour is in harmony, it may make your waist look smaller and your abdomen appear longer and leaner. Patients are always amazed at the change in their reflection.
Cost of Breast Augmentation in Boston
If you want to have a breast augmentation with me in one of my Boston area practices, the cost is going to range between $10,000 and $12,000 depending on:
- Implant selection
- Type of anesthesia
- Need for GalaFLEX surgical mesh
The latter is a form of soft tissue support I use on patients with severely compromised or weak breast tissue. This can be due to genetics but is generally the result of:
- Pregnancy
- Weight gain/loss
- Previous breast surgery
The GalaFLEX acts like an internal bra. Over time, the mesh itself dissolves, and you’re left with your own breast tissue that is 2-4 times stronger so that it can support your new size and shape. All of these options will be discussed with you in detail during your initial consultation. Since I value a deal, I will always be honest with you about whether or not something is worth the cost.
